An Overview of the 2010 Woman’s Fashion Shoes Trend Suzy Menkes
Article by Will
There goes the 2009 season while the door of 2010 season is open for us. Are you ready to make a plan to fill up your wardrobe with the latest fashion shoes? What? You still have no idea about this or you just want to avoid detours and mistakes on the issue? Why not stay for a while and listen to one of the top fashion critics Suzy Menkes? Let’s see how she described the mainstream of 2010 woman’s fashion shoes trend in an interview several days ago. To save your time, I only extract some of her key comments from the whole conversation record.
What will be the fashion leader this year in terms of fashion shoes? – That must be the major concern of most women. Suzy Menkes believed that the answer is hot high-heels shoes. She showed us a red wedge sandal and explained in this way, “After a couple of years on the back burner, I think perhaps wedges start to make their return in this season, and their comeback is complete. The fact is that many women find wedge heels easier to wear than stilettos. And they’re also great for showcasing some of the season’s other top trends like rope and cork accents.” I personally stand on her side because the one she mentioned have been at the top 5 hot sale lists of many famous fashion shoes online wholesalers like bigshoebazaar, Milanoo and tradekey ever since this March.
As for the 2010 fashion shoe print and color trends, she also gave her opinion: “Like last year, light and mid-tone high shoes are highly appreciated, with tans, beiges, taupes and natural exotic skins not far behind.” She said, “But don’t despair if you prefer a bit of color on your feet; there will still be several non-neutral shades to choose, with shades of blues and greens as the frontrunners.”
Suzy Menkes also defined the 2010 sandals trend with the words “Woven, Gladiator and Booties”. According to her, heavier sandals are edging out their skimpier counterparts for the third year running, with woven sandals, wide collared sandals, and bootie sandals all making the fashion pages again this season. She further illustrated her idea as follows:
“News that will come as a relief is that gladiator sandals won’t be nearly as prevalent as they were last year. Another subtle difference in this year’s sandal styles is that instead of all-over heaviness, we’re going to be seeing shoes that combine a hefty element with other thinner ones. For example, a thick ankle collar with a skimpy vamp strap, or a wide t-strap with lots of skinny woven straps attached to it.”
Although she pointed out some new directions of fashion shoes, she actually didn’t want us to throw away what we already have because some of them might be still hot in 2010: “If you were hoping that platform sandals were going the wayside this year, I’m sorry to inform you that you are wrong. In fact, I’m seeing a lot of spring and summer styles that have even thicker platform soles than we’ve seen in the past few years.” She said, “The funny thing is, platform shoes have been one of the hottest shoe styles for several years, so it’s difficult to still consider them a trend. But they’re actually a very divisive style, with as many critics as they have fans, so they’ll never be as universally acceptable as a pair of classic pumps.”
That’s all. Do you have any observations and reflections after reading? Please don’t hesitate to share your opinion with us, by a lucky coincidence, your original views might lead to another source of the 2010 woman’s fashion shoes trend!
